Legal Action Over Landfill Near Sea Caves

The Department of Environment and the Paphos EOA will take legal action against a landowner for landfill near the sea caves. According to the Director of the Department of Environment, Dr. Christodoulos Mesimeris, all relevant services have been informed.

The Ecologists Movement reported the works. The Municipality of Akamas stated that it had intervened four months ago to stop similar works. The Mayor of Akamas, Marinos Lambrou, stated that no work is being carried out today.

Mr. Mesimeris stated that the latest works are reportedly recent and that the plot is outside the Natura area. The sea caves area is sensitive, especially for the seal, which is a protected species.

The owner of the plot stated that she intended to cultivate her field.
