Kyperounta Hospital: Million-Euro CT Scanner Ends Up in the Trash
A million-euro CT scanner, left unused for over two years at Kyperounta Hospital, has been destroyed. According to Omega Channel, the lack of necessary infrastructure led to the machine being stored in an unsuitable location, causing damage to the tube.
The CT scanner was transferred from Limassol General Hospital two years ago, leaving the Limassol hospital with only one scanner. PASYKI President Sotiris Koumas alleged that Limassol is forced to purchase services from private providers due to breakdowns or scheduled maintenance.
The Kyperounta Hospital and the CT scanner issue were discussed in Parliament two years ago, with reports of building problems and understaffing. OKYPY allegedly failed to keep its promises to upgrade services.
OKYPY spokesman Charalambos Charilaou confirmed the destruction of the CT scanner and announced a tender for the purchase of a new one, with an estimated installation time of three months. The purchase of a second CT scanner for Limassol General Hospital is also underway.
