Initial Support Measures Completed for Limassol Fire Victims

The first support measures for those affected by the fire in mountainous Limassol have been completed, while others are in the process of completion, according to statements by Charalambos Christofinas to CNA.

The Commissioner for the Development of Mountain Communities, who has taken over the coordination of the measures, stated that the payment of financial support to the community councils has been completed, with a lump sum of €10,000 and an additional €1,000 for each dependent child to beneficiaries of completely destroyed homes, and €5,000 and an additional €1,000 for each dependent child for beneficiaries whose homes were partially destroyed. In total, €1.1 million has been given for completely destroyed homes.

The Civil Defence continues to accept applications for rent subsidies, while ETEK has completed over 300 assessments in the affected areas. Compensation payments for licensed residences have also begun.

The Ministry of Commerce has paid the first installment of a lump sum for lost income or destroyed products to catering establishments and small businesses. Water and electricity supply has been restored in the affected areas, and flood protection projects are a priority.

Income loss compensation for one year has been paid to farmers in the area, with the total amount exceeding €3 million.
