TAKATA Airbag Study Completion Expected by September 10

The study of the findings of the investigative committee on TAKATA airbags by the Committee established by the Road Safety Council is expected to be completed by September 10, said the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeadis, on Wednesday.
Answering questions after the completion of the Council of Ministers meeting, the Minister said that the Committee, in which the TOM, EMY and the Police participate, has started the study of the report. He will have a scheduled meeting with the Committee in early September, and the study is expected to be completed by September 10.
The Ministry has started a public awareness campaign from August until the end of September, as the eight-month period for vehicle recalls included in the February lists expires on October 3. For those who have not completed the recall, the vehicle's certificate of suitability will be removed.
Mr. Vafeadis called on citizens to contact TOM in cases where distributors do not have available appointments for airbag replacement. He also clarified that airbag replacement by an unapproved workshop is not recognized.
