Checkpoint Queues: Disruption and Delays Due to Checks

Tension prevails at the checkpoints due to delays in checks, amid pre-election disputes in the pseudo-state. Media in the occupied territories link the delays to the arrest of the five Greek Cypriots since July 19.
Ersin Tatar stated that "games cannot be played with the crossing points," while the President of the Republic denied that entry has been prohibited to Turkish Cypriots with pseudo-state IDs.
Despite the announcements, Turkish Cypriot crossings continue normally, as confirmed by a report from Omega Channel at the Agios Dometios checkpoint. The delays are due to the upgrade of the information system, resulting in waits of up to one hour.
Citizen statements indicate that the process is slower, but crossing is possible. Some argue that the issue is political, due to differences between the "governments." Turkish Cypriot crossings reach 2,000 per day, while Greek Cypriot crossings have decreased by 14%.
