Paphos: Civil Wedding Applications Surge Again After Crisis

Municipalities in the Paphos district anticipate significant revenue from civil weddings in the summer of 2026, as applications have rebounded following a brief period of uncertainty due to the regional conflict in the Middle East.
Officials from the Municipalities of Paphos, Geroskipou, and Akamas point out that after the start of military operations in Iran and Israel, and especially after Cyprus's involvement due to British Bases, there was a pause in applications and increased phone calls for clarification regarding reservations.
However, it has now become clear that Cyprus is not involved in the conflict and is not at immediate risk. This has resulted in civil wedding applications returning to previous high levels.
Maria Yagou, an official at the civil wedding office in the Municipality of Akamas, stated that in Pegeia, bookings are being made as far out as 2027, indicating the area's popularity and the recovery of the industry.
Akamas Mayor, Marinos Lambrou, emphasized the importance of restoring normalcy, as civil weddings are a significant source of revenue for the municipalities of Paphos.
