Paphos: Coastal Erosion Reappears in Polis Chrysochous

Coastal erosion is resurfacing in Paphos, with Polis Chrysochous facing significant impacts. Following problems in Pegeia, erosion in Polis Chrysochous has reached alarming levels, with land losses exceeding 70 meters in some cases.
Authorities have initiated actions to address the problem, following a deterioration of the situation due to recent bad weather. The Municipality of Polis Chrysochous is implementing a study by the National Technical University of Athens, which includes the construction of breakwaters. The first phase of the project, costing 3.5 million euros, is funded 50% by the Municipality and 50% by the State.
Coastal erosion is a long-standing problem for the Paphos region, also affecting Geroskipou and Pegeia.
