Public universities in Cyprus will be fully operational from September 1st, welcoming approximately 2000 new students. Officials at both universities told ΚΥΠΕ that preparations are underway, with the University of Cyprus (UCY) announcing the second round of admissions on September 5th. TEPAK, which has already announced the second round of admissions, will announce the allocation of students to dormitories on Wednesday.

During the first week of September, the registration process for new students will be completed at both universities, with classes starting on September 8th at both UCY and the Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK). According to Kleanthis Pissarides, Head of the Welfare Service at UCY, new students will register at the University on September 4th, with the second round of admissions following on September 5th.

Mr. Pissarides stated that 10-20% of places are offered through the second round of admissions. He also noted that a percentage of students are admitted through the Greek education system's examination process.

UCY has 208 beds in its dormitories and aims to strengthen its housing capacity by rebuilding a new building.

TEPAK has already announced the places for the second round of admissions, according to Vasilis Protopapas. The university accepts approximately 800 students annually. There are 250 student dormitory beds in Limassol, while 300 students receive a rent allowance. The allocation of new entrants to the dormitories will be announced on Wednesday, August 13th.
