Paralimni: Unveiling of Isaac and Solomou Statues – 29 Years of Impunity

In Paralimni, statues of Tassos Isaac and Solomos Solomou were unveiled, 29 years after their murder in 1996. The Speaker of the House, Annita Demetriou, stressed that the murderers remain unpunished.
The statues were sculpted by Filippos Giapanis, an initiative of the Municipality of Paralimni-Deryneia. Hundreds of motorcyclists from the Isaac – Solomou Memory Initiative attended the event.
Demetriou stated that 11 arrest warrants for the murderers remain unexecuted, with Turkey refusing to comply. The 2008 decision of the European Court of Human Rights, which demonstrates Turkey's guilt, also remains unimplemented.
The Mayor of Paralimni – Deryneia, Giorgos Nikolettos, stated that the creation of the monument is a minimal tribute to the two heroes. Konstantinos Solonos, on behalf of the Isaac – Solomou Memory Initiative, stressed the need for national unity in the struggle for liberation.
Anastasia Isaac, daughter of Tassos Isaac, demanded justice and the arrest of the murderers.
