Father Aristotelis: 'I Saw a Lifetime's Work Vanish in Three Minutes'

Father Aristotelis, a priest from Pachna village, shared his harrowing testimony with SIGMA regarding the battle against the flames. He described the firefighting efforts and assistance to volunteers.
'I saw people breaking down, fortunes vanishing in three minutes. An elderly man told me he wanted to die,' he recounted emotionally. Animals, cars, and homes were destroyed as people tried to save themselves.
Father Aristotelis described the moment he saw a woman trying to save her children, as well as the image of a car burning. He himself tried to contain the fire with his tanker, facing immense difficulties.
He denounced the absence of firefighting forces at the start of the fire in Souni, emphasizing that he saved houses on his own. He also praised the role of the volunteers who helped firefighters and citizens.
'I hope the world is well,' he said, referring to the solidarity and help he received from many.
