Pervolia: Concerns over Erosion at Faros Beach

Significant concern is growing among beachgoers and local authorities regarding erosion at Faros Beach in Pervolia, Larnaca. Municipal Councilor Yiannis Pavlidis (DISY) is calling for the immediate installation of breakwaters – a project halted in 2024 – to prevent further erosion and destruction of the natural environment.
The erosion threatens the coastal pedestrian walkway. The plan to reinforce the Pervolia beachfront has been put on hold, while in Oroklini, the same project is expected to be completed by 2026.
Mr. Pavlidis opposed the possibility of Faros Beach being used as a "guinea pig." Two near-drowning incidents were also reported on the organized beach due to the lack of lifeguards.
The Municipal Council approved the placement of a lifeguard tower on a neighboring beach with a budget of 80,000 euros. Yiannis Pavlidis sent a letter to the President of the Republic, requesting his intervention.
