Pilot Technical Gymnasium Launched in Cyprus

The Minister of Education, Athena Michaelidou, announced the launch of the pilot Technical Gymnasium in the Cypriot education system. According to the Minister, this implementation aims to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education.

The purpose of the Technical Gymnasium is to provide early familiarization of students with technical professions and new technologies. Students will have the opportunity to acquire practical knowledge and develop life and training skills, helping them discover their inclinations and interests.

Ms. Michaelidou emphasized that the implementation of this educational policy is necessary due to the low participation rates of Gymnasium graduates in Technical and Vocational Education and Training, as well as the skills mismatch between education and the labor market.
