Orange Alert: Suspension of Deliveries and Outdoor Work

The Department of Labour Inspection (DLI) of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance announces the suspension of work due to high temperatures.

Specifically, between 12:00-16:00, outdoor heavy and moderate work, as well as transport/delivery of products by two-wheeled vehicles or personal mobility devices (scooters, e-scooters) are suspended.

The warning concerns areas below 300 meters altitude (more than 10 kilometers from the coastline) and mountainous areas above 1,150 meters.

For other cases, the DLI reminds of the provisions of the Safety and Health at Work Decrees of 2014, 2020 and 2023, regarding the thermal stress of workers.

Employers must measure temperature and humidity parameters and take measures to avoid thermal stress, such as frequent breaks, shading, work rotation, and provision of cool water.

In temperature conditions of 39οC to 46οC, work must be stopped when specific relative humidity percentages prevail, depending on the type of work.
