Severe Weather Warning Issued for Cyprus

The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning for low pressure and strong winds affecting Cyprus until Thursday.
Today, expect cloudy weather with rain and isolated thunderstorms, with a chance of hail. Snow or sleet is expected on the highest peaks of Troodos.
Winds will be southwesterly, strong to very strong, at 5 to 6 Beaufort, and temporarily up to severe, 7 Beaufort, on the coasts. The sea will be rough to choppy.
The temperature will reach 16 degrees Celsius inland, around 18 degrees Celsius on the coasts, and 4 degrees Celsius in the higher mountains.
On New Year's Day, the weather will be partly cloudy with isolated showers, mainly affecting the western half of the island. Snow or sleet is expected on the highest peaks of Troodos and locally in the higher mountains.
On Friday and Saturday, locally increased cloud cover will be observed at times. The temperature is expected to drop on Friday, while a rise is expected on Saturday.
