First Birth of 2026 in Cyprus: Sara Barlow Gives Birth to Baby Girl

The first birth of 2026 in Cyprus has occurred. A healthy baby girl was born at 8:46 AM on New Year's Day at the American Medical Center in Nicosia.

The mother, Sara Barlow, a British national, arrived at the clinic at 1:30 AM with contractions. According to midwife Kalia Tsagari, the birth was performed via Cesarean section. The newborn weighed 2.790 kilograms.

Sara Barlow told reporters that she feels tired but very good, emphasizing the uniqueness of being born on the first day of the year and being the first child of the year in Cyprus. She also revealed that the name she chose for her daughter is Athena.

Sara Barlow has been in Cyprus for the past few years.
