Larnaca Bus Drivers Offered Proposal to End Strike

Bus drivers in Larnaca are being asked to vote on a specific proposal to end their strike, which is now in its seventh consecutive day.
The proposal concerns working hours and was discussed at a lengthy meeting in Nicosia with the Director of Labour Relations of the Ministry of Labour, Antis Apostolou, and representatives of the trade unions PEO, SEK, DEOK.
The proposal includes the following:
- Compensation for every minute of employment beyond 7 hours and 36 minutes per day.
- The working framework will not exceed 9 hours, with a break of up to 60 minutes.
- Notification of each new work schedule to employee representatives within 48 hours.
- The new schedules will be sent by September 3rd and will state the working and break times two working days after the end of the strike.
- The competent state services will co-assess the scheduling of breaks.
- On card 12, route 413, the break will be at Kofinou station.
The drivers will meet at the SEK offices in Larnaca to decide.
