Power Outages at Desalination Plants: Vasilikos Restored, Larnaca Expected Soon

An alert was issued due to technical power supply issues at desalination plants in Vasilikos and Larnaca. The Water Development Department (WDD) and the District Self-Government Organizations (EOA) have been placed on high alert.

The plant in Vasilikos has already been restored, while the plant in Larnaca is expected to be restored later today. Available drinking water supplies to the EOAs are temporarily reduced.

Water supply will continue to be covered by the Tersefanou and Kornou refineries and the Dekeleia desalination plant. The new water tanks in the EOAs of Nicosia, Larnaca and Famagusta prevent water cuts.

The WDD and the EOAs urge the public to conserve water.
