Fire near Larnaca Landfill – Under Control

A fire broke out near a landfill in the Klaudia community, Larnaca district, burning three decares of low vegetation, reeds, and eucalyptus trees.

According to a statement from the Department of Forests, the fire broke out in the riverbed of Tremithos, near an old landfill. The intervention of the fire extinguishing forces was immediate, resulting in the fire being brought under full control around 13:50 on Saturday, August 23.

4 people from the Department of Forests, 6 people from the Fire Service, and 4 people from the Civil Defense participated in the extinguishing operation. The causes of the fire are under investigation.
