Omodos Fire: Started from Garbage, says Kettis

Yesterday's fire in Omodos started from a small amount of garbage near the road, according to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis.
Speaking to CNA, Mr. Kettis stated that firefighting forces remain on alert in the area. The fire burned approximately one hectare of dry grass, wild vegetation, and debris, and slightly affected the yards of three houses.
The Fire Service is on heightened alert due to the orange warning for extreme maximum temperatures. Mr. Kettis appealed to the public to be careful, especially during the weekend, and to immediately inform the authorities in case of fire.
The Fire Service's personnel are on increased alert with patrols and observation posts.
