Omodos Fire Started from Garbage

Yesterday's fire in Omodos appears to have started from a small amount of garbage near the road, according to the Press Officer of the Fire Service, Andreas Kettis.

Firefighting forces remain on standby in the area. The fire burned a total area of approximately one hectare of dry grass, wild vegetation and debris, while the yards of three houses were slightly affected.

Mr. Kettis made a warm appeal to the public to be very careful, as there is an increased risk of fires due to extreme temperatures. The Fire Service is on increased alert with patrols and observatories.
