Fire in Omodos Started from Garbage, Three Residences Affected

Yesterday's fire in Omodos appears to have started from a small amount of garbage next to a road, according to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis.

The exact starting point of the fire has been located, at the edge of the road, where there was a small pile of garbage. The fire burned approximately one hectare of dry grass, wild vegetation, and debris, while the yards of three residences were slightly affected.

The Fire Service is on increased alert due to the orange warning for extreme temperatures. Mr. Kettis called on the public to be careful and to immediately inform the authorities if a fire is detected.

The Service's forces are conducting patrols and manning observation posts.
