Cyprus Wildfires: Aid from Neighboring Countries and the EU

Neighboring countries, as well as Greece and Spain, are sending aerial support to Cyprus in response to the European Civil Protection Mechanism to combat the wildfires.

Two Jordanian firefighting aircraft are expected to join operations immediately. Two helicopters from Egypt have arrived at the "Andreas Papandreou" airbase in Paphos and are awaiting instructions. The Egyptian Minister of Petroleum confirmed the dispatch from the Coordination Center.

Additionally, two aircraft from the Israeli Air Force have departed for Cyprus. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar is in constant contact with his Cypriot counterpart Konstantinos Kombos to coordinate assistance.

Greece has sent 26 forest firefighters to assist in the firefighting efforts, and two aircraft are expected from Spain.
