Schools for enclaved residents in Rizokarpaso operate under restrictions, according to discussions in the Parliamentary Education Committee. Committee Chairman Pavlos Mylonas stated that since 2023, the occupation "authorities" have banned education ministry officials from entering schools.

Minister of Education, Sports and Youth, Athena Michaelidou, emphasized the Ministry's readiness to proceed with regulatory changes for staffing and school operations. She stressed that maintaining the operation of schools in enclaved communities is a matter of national importance.

The President of the Anavrysi Rizokarpaso Community Council, Michalis Mikelli, confirmed that the ban has been in effect since May 2023, resulting in meetings with students taking place in cafes.

Representatives from POED and OELMEK emphasized the need to restore the provision for hiring teachers, with 50% from the enclaved communities and 50% from the rest of Cyprus.

DI.PA. MP Alekos Tryfonidis stated that there are serious problems in the operation of schools in the occupied territories and that the discussion will continue.
