Rhodes: Luna Park Closed After Injury of Young People

A luna park in Rhodes has been suspended after an accident in which four young people were injured. According to witnesses, the young people were thrown from the "tray" ride.
The municipality of Rhodes ordered the closure of the luna park until a re-inspection of the facilities is completed. The owner of the luna park was arrested and released, while claiming that the young people violated the safety rules of the game, as they were standing despite recommendations and warning signs.
"We would like to wish the children a speedy recovery, even though they violated one of the basic rules of the game not to stand up because they were standing," the owner told ANT1, adding that the luna park has all the necessary certifications and documents.
An eyewitness reported that the ride was overloaded and that a seat broke, causing the injury of the young people. "A seat broke, a spot and people started falling down, they panicked, they were running, they were shocked. A base had broken the seat of the luna park and while it was starting to go fast this happened. They had overfilled it, everyone was crammed inside, very crammed."
One of the injured has bruises, but does not face more serious problems. His father said he would not take legal action against the company.
