Salamina: Fire in Vromopousi – Flames Reached House Yards

A fire broke out in low vegetation in the Vromopousi area of Salamina, with flames reaching the yards of houses. 112 sent a message to residents of the Vasilika area to be on alert.

According to residents, the fire started from fireworks set off during a celebration. The immediate intervention of the Fire Department, with 48 firefighters, a hiking team from the 1st EMODE, volunteers and 15 vehicles, and the assistance of municipal water trucks, prevented the worst. The fire was quickly contained, and Fire Department forces remained in the area for any possible rekindling.

A resident reported that the fire was prevented from spreading to a forest area. Many fire trucks passed through Perama to reinforce the forces in Salamina.
