A 55-year-old beekeeper was injured in the Samaria Gorge after falling from his mule. The man, well-known in the area, was returning from his beehives when the accident occurred in Prinar, about 4.5 kilometers from the northern entrance of the gorge.

According to ERT Chania, the beekeeper is an experienced hiker and was the one who located the body of the 21-year-old German tourist in March in the White Mountains.

The injured man has injuries to his ribs, back, and head. The fire service, a doctor, and park staff rushed to the scene. It has been deemed necessary to transport him to the hospital by helicopter. A team from EMAK from Heraklion and EMODE is also heading to the area.
