Significant inflows are expected into Cyprus' dams due to the ongoing rainfall. However, the Director of the Water Development Department, Iliana Tofa – Christidou, told CYPE that they are being cautious, as the final inflows will be clear by the end of April.

The largest dam in Cyprus, Kouris, recorded a higher fullness yesterday (21.2%) compared to last year (20.3%). Ms. Tofa – Christidou described the rains as beneficial but stressed the need to preserve reserves for 2027 and 2028.

In addition, 8 million cubic meters of water were transferred from Arminou via the Southern Pipeline. Ms. Tofa – Christidou emphasized the strict management to preserve every flow of water.

Regarding the possibility of water cuts in the summer, Ms. Tofa – Christidou said that this will depend on the final flows at the end of April. She called on consumers to save water and the EOA to repair their networks.

Regarding other dams in Limassol, Germasogeia dam recorded a fullness of 14.1% (compared to 26.7% last year) and Polemidia dam 40% (compared to 39.6% last year).
