Fire Alert: Increased Patrols by Fire Department and Department of Forests

The risk of fire is particularly high today, with the competent services increasing patrols. Extremely high temperatures, low humidity and strong winds favor the rapid spread of even a single spark. The Fire Department and the Department of Forests are on alert, utilizing all available mechanical means.
The public should be especially careful, avoiding activities and actions that may cause a fire, such as the use of tools or agricultural machinery that produce heat, sparks or flames (emery, oxyacetylene welding, electric welding, etc.), the disposal of lit cigarettes or other hot objects in the open air, etc.
In addition, special attention should be paid to preventive measures to avoid causing fire from the exhausts of various generators or water pumps in the countryside. It is reminded that burning grass, branches and garbage is prohibited and that lighting a fire anywhere is also prohibited, except for preparing food within specially permitted and designated areas.
In areas where, according to the Meteorological Bulletin, heatwave conditions with winds and gusts of wind are observed, increased and extended patrols will be carried out, both ground and air, with loaded firefighting aircraft. The Fire Department is in contact and coordination with the Police, the Department of Forests and all Suppression Services in this regard.
Anyone who notices smoke or fire is kindly requested to immediately inform the Fire Department via the emergency number 112 or the Department of Forests on 1407, reporting the exact location of the fire's start for immediate and effective response. In addition, in cases where actions are observed that may indicate malicious or intentional arson, the Police and the Fire Department should be informed immediately.
