Larnaca Port Workers Strike Over Health Concerns

Workers at Larnaca port staged a warning strike today from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. due to concerns about safety and health in the workplace. The unions ΣΕΓΔΑΜΕΛΙΝ-ΠΕΟ and ΟΜΕΠΕΓΕ-ΣΕΚ issued a statement regarding the mobilization.
The General Secretary of ΣΕΓΔΑΜΕΛΙΝ-ΠΕΟ, Natia Kyritsi, stated that after the start of the strike, there was communication with the Cyprus Ports Authority and a meeting is scheduled for tomorrow in Nicosia.
The workers are demanding clean drinking water, clean sanitary facilities and safe workplaces. They are also asking the Ministry of Transport to ensure safe and clean workplaces and the Ministry of Labor to strictly observe the Law on Safety and Health.
