Stable Weather Until Sunday – Winds Up to 5 Beaufort

According to Meteorological Officer Panagiotis Mouskos, the weather will remain largely unchanged until Sunday. Orange warnings for high temperatures remain in effect, while winds are not expected to exceed 5 Beaufort.
The winds will initially blow from southeast to southwest directions in the morning hours, and southwest to northwest in the afternoon hours. Their intensity will be 3 to 4 Beaufort in the morning and evening hours, while in the afternoons in coastal areas they will reach 4 to 5 Beaufort. It is also possible that in mountainous areas and inland they will also reach 4 to 5 Beaufort.
Today, Friday, the highest temperature recorded was 42.5 degrees Celsius. For tomorrow, Saturday, the forecast is 44 degrees, within the orange warning zone. The probability of rising to 45 degrees is small.
No significant variation in the weather is expected at least until Sunday, with the island being affected by the same warm air mass. Similar temperatures, sea breezes in the afternoons and chances of fog in the early morning hours are expected.
Regarding the fires, Mr. Mouskos mentioned that usually high temperature and low humidity cause the outbreak of fires, which spread due to the winds. The increase in temperature in areas with fires is a temporary phenomenon and depends on the evolution of the fire.
