Support for 255 Families in Fire-Affected Areas

The Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Marilena Evaggelou, announced that support and guidance have been provided to 255 families in the fire-affected areas. Additionally, 189 families received financial assistance for emergency needs.

The announcement was made during a meeting with community leaders from the fire-stricken areas in Pachna. Ms. Evaggelou emphasized the importance of cooperation with local authorities to effectively address the needs of those affected.

A special program is underway in the affected areas, with the participation of social service workers and neighborhood workers. The support will continue as long as necessary, the Deputy Minister assured.

The meeting also discussed the community development plan with the Commissioner for the Development of Mountainous Areas. Ms. Evaggelou also referred to the institution of the neighborhood social worker, which aims to decentralize social services and more effectively address social issues.

The Deputy Minister was accompanied by the Commissioner for the Development of Mountainous Areas, Charalambos Christofinas, the President of the Union of Communities of Lemesos, Lefteris Perikli, the President of the Union of Communities of Cyprus, Andreas Kitromilidis, and community leaders.
