Five Greek Cypriots Arrested in Occupied Territories: Lukewarm Reactions

Five Greek Cypriots, aged 60-65, have been arrested in the occupied territories, with two already sentenced to three months in prison and the other three awaiting trial by a military court. The arrest has provoked lukewarm reactions, in contrast to the past when similar incidents triggered strong protests.
According to the Turkish side, the detainees were moving suspiciously in a private area without permission and were in possession of property titles. The detainees are from Trikomo, and the area is their property, which was seized by the Turks 51 years ago. The arrest is considered retaliation for the arrest of Israeli businessman Simon Aykut by the Greek Cypriot authorities, who is active in the occupied areas.
Tatar had warned of retaliation after his meeting with Maria Olguin, the UN Secretary-General's envoy, regarding arrests for the usurpation of Greek Cypriot properties. The detainees reportedly went to inspect their properties, but the case is being treated with indifference compared to the past.
