Makedonitissa Tomb: Remembrance for the Fallen (pics)

A multitude gathered to honor the fallen at the Makedonitissa Tomb in Nicosia, on the anniversary of the Turkish invasion of Cyprus. Political, military, and religious leaders from Cyprus and Greece attended the event.

A Trisagion service and roll call of the fallen were held in front of the monument, which commemorates the tragic moments of the war, including the downing of the Greek aircraft. The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, and the Ambassador of Greece to Cyprus, Ioannis Papameletiou, laid wreaths.

Representatives of parties, organizations, and relatives of victims also laid wreaths. "We do not forget, we do not compromise, we do not accept faits accomplis," stated President Christodoulides.
