Experienced Diver Giorgos Nikolaou Dies at the 'Zenobia' Wreck

Deep sorrow has been caused by the death of 67-year-old diver Giorgos Nikolaou, who died on Saturday in the sea area of the 'Zenobia' shipwreck. Nikolaou was a diving instructor and professional underwater photographer.

The 67-year-old had made over 5,000 dives at the 'Zenobia' wreck. After being recovered from the sea, he was taken to Larnaca General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the police, Nikolaou was a resident of Paralimni and originally from Pallouriotissa. The Larnaca Police Directorate is investigating the causes of death.

The Larnaca Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) issued a statement about the incident, stating that it received information about a diver in distress at the 'Zenobia'. A speedboat from the Port and Maritime Police and an ambulance were mobilized. The police are investigating the circumstances of the 67-year-old's death.
