Armored Shelter at the University of Cyprus: Preparedness and Safety

Following the drone attack on the British base in Akrotiri and geopolitical tensions, the issue of security in Cyprus is in the spotlight.

protothema.gr visited the shelters of the University of Cyprus, recording one of the most organized protection spaces on the island. The spaces, located beneath the university building, feature reinforced concrete walls and ventilation systems.

The security officer of the University of Cyprus, Akis Sofroniou, explains the operation of the protection system and the protocols activated in case of emergency. Students described the instructions they have received in case of an alarm.

The shelters are considered among the most organized and armored in Cyprus.
