TC Media: Long Waits at Crossings Over the Weekend

Large queues of vehicles and long delays were observed at the crossings over the weekend, according to TC media.

Turkish Cypriot media report significant inconvenience, mainly for Turkish Cypriots wishing to enter the free areas, with the situation causing discontent. Many attributed the inconvenience to increased checks by the Republic of Cyprus.

The reports also state that the inadequacy of control points in the occupied territories and the limited number of available crossings contribute to the traffic congestion.

The decrease in Greek Cypriot crossings after the arrests in the occupied territories is also noted. The problem is estimated to be the result of a lack of communication and political will.
