Turkish Cypriot Press: Hundreds 'Arrested' in Occupied Territories for 'Illegal Residence'

Extensive control operations were carried out by the 'police' in the occupied territories, resulting in the arrest of 134 people for 'illegal residence'. According to a report in 'Yeni Düzen', the checks focused on people without 'legal' residence status.

In an operation in occupied Nicosia, Kioneli, and Trachonas, 37 people were 'arrested', including nationals of Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Liberia. A Zambian national had been residing 'illegally' in the occupied territories for almost 11 years.

The 'general police directorate' announced that the operations took place on August 29, 30, and 31, in workers' residences, inns, and entertainment venues.
