At least fifty farm animals have been found dead in the areas of mountainous Limassol affected by the fires, according to senior veterinary officer Apostolos Mazeris. The count is ongoing.

In statements to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), Mr. Mazeris stated that there are approximately 15,000 sheep and goats in the area. Initial estimates indicate 50 charred animals. Teams from the Veterinary Services are assessing the situation in the affected areas, such as Pano Kyvides, Agios Ambrosios, Agios Therapon, and the Lofou area.

The number of sheep and goat farms in these areas amounts to 18, while there are also 6-7 cattle units. Beekeepers have also been affected, and there are reports of companion animals being taken to veterinary clinics.

The Veterinary Services are immediately removing the dead animals, while measures are being taken to relieve injured animals, including the possibility of euthanasia. Mr. Mazeris emphasized the need for farm owners to take preventive measures to avoid similar disasters.
