Turkish Cypriot Claims: Farmers Outside Buffer Zone in Dhenia

The Turkish Cypriot 'foreign ministry' claims that three Greek Cypriot farmers were outside the buffer zone in Dhenia while performing agricultural work. In a statement, the 'ministry' invokes a 1988 'agreement' between UNFICYP and the Turkish Cypriot community, which defines the conditions for agricultural activities in the area.

According to the claim, the 'security forces' warned the farmers, who then withdrew. UNFICYP intervened, and after discussions, the farmers left the area completely.
