The Traffic Police of the Police Headquarters has announced measures to address speeding on specific roads, characterized as 'speed tracks.' These measures include the installation of speed cameras in high-risk areas and intensified speed checks.

In response to questions from CNA, the Traffic Department stated that these actions aim to reduce traffic accidents, especially after the recent fatal accident on Larnakos Avenue.

Municipalities, according to the President of the Union of Municipalities, Andreas Vyras, do not have the jurisdiction to install speed bumps or cameras but can contact the Police or the Technical Committee for Traffic Problem Resolution.

The Police emphasize that excessive speed remains a major cause of serious and fatal accidents and that targeted measures are being implemented, such as weekly speed check campaigns and awareness campaigns.

The Citizen's Line (1460) is available for citizens to report violations of the Traffic Code and other illegal activities.
