Tsada Fire: Nine Aircraft Battling Flames, Homes Evacuated

The Fire Service announced that the situation regarding the fire in Tsada is improved and heading towards containment. Nine aircraft are in operation, while 13 are on standby. The advanced control center is coordinating firefighting forces.

The Paphos District Officer and the Director of Operations are coordinating the forces. The Ministers of Defense, Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment, and Transport, Communications and Works, as well as representatives of the involved services, are at the JRCC.

As a precaution, 10 houses (15 people) were evacuated in the communities of Koili – Paphos. The Director of the Department of Forests, Savvas Iezekiil, stated that the fire is consuming shrubbery and wild vegetation and that they are moving towards its extinguishing. Ikaros 2 and the National Plan PYRSOS were activated.

In Koili, houses and a photovoltaic park were threatened, while the church of Prophet Elias in Melissovouno was endangered. The Paphos – Polis Chrysochous road has been reopened, but the road to Koili remains closed.

Black smoke covered the area, as seen in a video by the Atlas FireTeam. The SupportCy volunteer team is also participating in the operation.
