Tsiknopempti: Double Meat Consumption in Cyprus

Meat consumption soared on Tsiknopempti in Cyprus, with consumers mainly choosing pork souvlaki, ribs, and sausages.
According to the president of the butchers' association, Kostas Livadiotis, demand was double compared to a normal day, with increased purchasing traffic from Wednesday. Butcher shops served an increased volume of customers throughout the day.
Mr. Livadiotis stated that the consumption of pork souvlaki and various cuts was approximately double compared to any other day. Tsiknopempti remains one of the most commercial days for the sector.
Turnover was also increased for catering establishments, with taverns and souvlaki shops recording high demand. The Secretary General of the Association of Recreation Center Owners, Fanos Leventis, likened the day to an additional Saturday.
There was also increased demand for pourekia, while the Animal Party called for a different approach, with vegetables and plant-based products.
