Rainy December in Cyprus: Levels Approaching Normal

December 2025 is proving to be a particularly rainy month for Cyprus, with rainfall levels approaching normal for the season, according to the Department of Meteorology.

In a statement, the Department of Meteorology reports that total rainfall for the month in several areas is approaching or exceeding normal levels, improving hydrological conditions locally. However, it does not substantially alter the overall picture of the water balance.

December 30th was a characteristic day, with an average daily rainfall of 17.9 mm.

The low barometric system affecting the island is expected to continue to cause rainfall, and a warning for rain, thunderstorms and strong winds remains in effect until 22:00.
