Charalambos Pittokopitis: Measures to Avoid the Worst After Fires

The President of EOA Paphos, Charalambos Pittokopitis, emphasized the need for vigilance and measures following the fires that affected Paphos and Limassol. Speaking to «Φ», Mr. Pittokopitis stated that avoiding the worst in Paphos should not lead to complacency.

He pointed out that the landfill proves to be a weak link and fire zones should have been created. He announced a meeting to take decisions to protect the province from fires.

Regarding the consequences, he mentioned that damage to homes was avoided, but there was damage to cultivated land. A record of the damages will be made for compensation.
