Hardalias: Anti-flood projects in Piraeus are progressing

The Regional Governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalias, announced the start and tendering of three major anti-flood projects in Piraeus. The projects have secured funding and clear schedules.

The projects include:

  • Completion of the construction of rainwater drainage pipes in the Municipal Unit of Nikaia.
  • Construction of a rainwater drainage network in the Municipalities of Korydallos and Nikaia - Agios Ioannis Rentis.
  • Completion of flood protection works in the area of Chalkidos and Valaoritou streets in the Municipality of Piraeus.

Mr. Hardalias stressed that flood protection of Attica is an immediate priority and that by the end of his term, at least 55 key flood protection projects will have been completed or will be in the process of completion.

The Regional Governor of Attica visited Nikaia and spoke with citizens and entrepreneurs, emphasizing the importance of upgrading neighborhoods and implementing specific projects.

The meeting was attended by members of parliament, mayors and deputy regional governors.

Mr. Hardalias stressed that the climate crisis leaves no room for complacency and that local government must operate with a plan and speed.
