Social Welfare Services Deny Bullying in Nicosia Teen's Disappearance

The Director of Social Welfare Services (ΥΚΕ), Maria Kyratzi, has denied claims of bullying in the case of a 13-year-old who disappeared from a minor's shelter in Nicosia.
Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting in Pachna, Ms. Kyratzi stated that the process of collecting information and informing the Police began immediately after the child's absence was reported. She clarified that the claim of bullying as the cause of the disappearance is unfounded.
Ms. Kyratzi emphasized that the confinement of children is prohibited and that the goal is to develop a relationship with each child. She also referred to international issues concerning unaccompanied minors and the need to ensure safety and prevent abuse.
The ΥΚΕ assured that there is immediate mobilization to locate any child who is absent from their program.
