The Minister of Justice and Public Order, Marios Hartsiotis, has pledged increased policing of the Larnaca coastal area following a meeting with the Larnaca Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EVEL) and the Larnaca Tourism Board (ETAP).

The meeting, which also included Deputy Chief of Police Panikos Stavrou and Larnaca Police Director Ioannis Sotiriadis, discussed the upgrade of the Larnaca Police Directorate, as well as the complete upgrade of the Larnaca Fire Station, which has been included in next year's budget.

Emphasis was placed on the intensive policing of the coastal front, with the Minister stressing that the measures will continue to enhance the safety of citizens and visitors. Discussions also included the upgrade of infrastructure, the action of the Port Police against illegal fishing, smuggling, illegal immigration, poaching, and crime problems in Pyla.

The Minister stressed the need to create a Municipal Police by the Local Authorities to relieve the central Police of minor offenses.
