Fire Under Control Near Mathiatis

A forest fire broke out today, Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 15:06, in the area of the Mathiatis community, in the Nicosia district. The fire was brought under control at 15:22.

According to a statement from the Department of Forests, the immediate intervention of the fire extinguishing forces prevented the fire from spreading, which burned an area of 1.5 decares covered with dry grass.

Eleven people from the Department of Forests participated in the extinguishing operation with three fire trucks. The causes of the fire are under investigation.
