Mandatory Work Stoppage Due to Red Alert

The Department of Labour Inspection (DLI) has announced a mandatory work stoppage for certain activities due to a red alert for extremely high temperatures.

Outdoor work: Stoppage from 11:00 to 17:00.

Delivery by two-wheeled vehicles: Stoppage from 12:00 to 16:00.

The measure concerns areas of Cyprus below 300 meters and above 1,150 meters.

The Code of Practice for Thermal Stress applies to areas outside the red alert.

Employers must take measures to reduce thermal stress, such as breaks and appropriate clothing.
