Ministry Responds to Audit Office on Akamas Road Concerns

The Ministry of Agriculture has responded to the Audit Office's recommendations regarding the use of the Loutra Afroditis – Fontana Amorosa road in Akamas. According to a related announcement, the issues concerning the road network's condition and uncontrolled access reflect real challenges, which the Ministry has already acknowledged and is managing.

The Ministry clarifies that this specific road is not only an access road to the Park but also a critical route for the operational movement of fire fighting forces and other service vehicles in case of fire or other emergency.

The Department of Forests has submitted a request to the Environmental Authority for the minimum necessary improvement of the road, which does not constitute a complete upgrade but a limited intervention to improve safety and access for emergency vehicles.

The Ministry emphasizes that it takes the Audit Office's observations seriously and is working to complete the park's infrastructure and operational organization, including the implementation of a controlled access system.
